Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending May 18, the US rotary rig count increased by one to 1,046 rigs following a 13-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by one to 200 while the number of rigs drilling for oil remained level at 844. The overall rig count is now up by 145 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by four to 83 rigs in the week ending May 18, following a seven-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by two rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
