US and Canadian rig counts rise week-on-week

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending July 2, the US rotary rig count increased by five to 475 rigs. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by one to 99, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by four to 376. The overall rig count is now up by 212 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 10 to 136 rigs in the week ending July 2. The Canadian rig count is now up by 118 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
