Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending January 25, the US rotary rig count increased by nine to 1,059 rigs following a 25-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by one to 197, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by 10 to 862. The overall rig count is now up by 112 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 23 to 232 rigs in the week ending January 25, following a 25-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 106 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
