Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending September 29 the US rotary rig count increased by five to 940 rigs following a one-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by one to 189 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by six to 750. The overall rig count is now up by 418 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by seven to 213 rigs in the week ending September 29, following an eight-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 51 rigs from the same week a year ago.
