Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending April 20, the US rotary rig count increased by five to 1,013 rigs following a five-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas remained level at 192 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by five to 820. The overall rig count is now up by 156 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by nine to 93 rigs in the week ending April 20, following a nine-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 6 rigs from the same week a year ago.
