Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending March 8, the US rotary rig count decreased by 11 to 1,027 rigs following a nine-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by two to 193, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by nine to 834. The overall rig count is now up by 43 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 22 to 189 rigs in the week ending March 8, following a one-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 84 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
