Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending December 7, the US rotary rig count decreased by one to 1,075 rigs following a two-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by nine to 198 while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by 10 to 877. The overall rig count is now up by 144 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 13 to 186 rigs in the week ending December 7, following a five-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 33 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
