US and Canadian rig counts continue week-on-week plunge

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending April 3, the US rotary rig count decreased by 64 to 664 rigs following a 44-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by two to 100, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by 62 to 562. The overall rig count is now down by 361 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count also decreased by 13 to 41 rigs in the week ending April 3, following a 44-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 27 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
