Universal Stainless to hike base prices

Universal Stainless and Alloy Products Inc. will hike the base prices of its entire bar product range – round, square, flat and hexagon– and all semi-finished ingot and billet products, according to a statement released by the company today. The company will impose increases of 4% on all air-melted products, 6% on stainless steel re-melted grades and 8% on high strength low alloy re-melted grades. The company cited the need to offset rising raw material costs as the reason behind its base price increases. The new prices will be effective for shipments as of April 18, 2005.
