Union Partners acquires Maksteel

Chicago-based Union Partners, a private equity firm, acquires Maksteel. Maksteel is a steel service center in Ontario, Canada, which reportedly has a capacity of managing 700,000 mt annually. Additionally, Maksteel operates its own transportation fleet.

Union Partners has under its umbrella other steel companies such as Lamination Specialties, Mapes & Sprowl, Cortran, Lee Steel, Berg Steel and Chicago Steel. It is also presently investing in a new site near Big River Steel in Arkansas.
