Ukrainian semi-finished steel exports decline in 2011

According to the data released by metal trading enterprise Ukrainian Mining and Metallurgical Company (UGMK), in 2011 Ukrainian exports of semi-finished steel products decreased by 5.2 percent year on year to 10.807 million mt.

In 2011, Ukraine exported 5.572 million mt of steel slabs - up 1.6 percent, while exports of square billets went down by 12.7 percent to 5.139 million mt, both compared to 2010.

Meanwhile, exports of semi-finished steel products from Ukraine increased by 5.3 percent in December compared to November, rising to 1.029 million mt.

On the other hand, in 2011 Ukrainian imports of semi-finished steel products increased by two percent year on year to 476,000 mt.

In December alone, imports of semi-finished steel products to Ukraine decreased by 22.8 percent compared to November, falling to 32,800 mt.
