According to the information issued by the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy, from October 1, 2008 up to September 1 this year Russia and other countries utilized 93.02 percent of the annual quota imposed by Ukraine for seamless and OCTG pipe imports, supplying a total of 13,491 metric tons.
The quota for the period starting from October 1, 2008, through September 30, 2009 stands at 14,504 mt of pipes, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy's order No. 552 dated October 13, 2008.
Accordingly, in August this year the only seamless and OCTG pipe importers to Ukraine were Austria, which has utilized 97.96 percent of its quota, i.e. 2,082 mt of an allowed 2,125 mt, and Poland, which used 52.07 percent of its quota, i.e. 497 mt of an allowed 955 mt.
Meanwhile, in the period from October 1 last year up to September 1 this year, Russia utilized 100 percent of its quota, having received licenses to export 10,311 mt of pipes to Ukraine, Romania utilized 70 percent of its quota, i.e. 126.7 mt of the licensed 181 mt, while other countries utilized 70 percent of their quota, i.e. 475.3 mt of pipes of a licensed 679 mt.
Slovakia, India and China, having received licenses to export 148 mt, 63 mt and 42 mt respectively to Ukraine, have not delivered any seamless and OCTG pipes to Ukraine in the period from October 1, 2008 up to the present.
