In April this year, Ukraine shipped abroad 515,900 mt of semi-finished steel products, down 6.9 percent year on year and down 31.5 percent month on month, respectively. In terms of value, Ukrainian semis exports in the given month decreased by 16.6 percent year on year and 27.9 percent month on month to $187.6 million, according to the official statistics.
In the January-April period this year, Ukrainian steel mills exported a total 2.6 million mt of semis, up by 7.6 percent year on year but with a revenue fall in the given period of 3.4 percent year on year to $955 million. Supplies to Italy and Turkey, the main destinations for Ukrainian slabs, accounted for 27.3 percent and 17.29 percent of the total value respectively, while Saudi Arabia accounted for 7.99 percent of the total, SteelOrbis has learned.
