Ukraine’s pig iron exports up 14.8 percent in Jan-May

In the January-May period this year, Ukraine’s pig iron shipments abroad increased by 14.8 percent year on year to 1.202 million mt. In the meantime, in terms of value Ukraine’s pig iron exports rose by 2.6 percent year on year to $351.9 million, according to the official statistics.

Accordingly, the US traditionally ranked in first place among the main importers of Ukrainian pig iron, accounting for 52.62 percent of the total export value. China with its 23.66 percent share of the total export value was in second place, while the share of Turkey accounted for 14.8 percent.

In May alone, Ukraine’s pig iron exports totaled 243,300 mt, up 27.9 percent year on year, while the export revenue increased by 6.7 percent year on year in the given month to $65.8 million, SteelOrbis has learned.
