In 2015, Ukraine exported $6.4 billion worth of ferrous metals, down 39 percent year on year, according to local media reports.
In 2015, Ukraine exported 17.1 million mt of finished steel products, down 15.3 percent compared to 2014. Nikolay Abrosimov, deputy general director of Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, stated that exports accounted for 85.5 percent of all produced finished steel products, while domestic consumption accounted for an unchanged share of 14.5 percent.
Meanwhile, in 2015 Ukraine’s imports of ferrous metals amounted to 700,000 mt, with a value of $600 million.
