Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works named after F. Dzerzhinsky (DMKD), a subsidiary of the Ukrainian steelmaker Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD), has halted the operations at its mill 500, which was commissioned in 1911, due to its inefficiency, excess power consumption, bad production conditions, and insufficient levels of mechanization.

The decision to decommission mill 500 was taken as a result of economic analysis, considering the increase of the capacities of DMKD's continuous casters, and the further modernization of the plant's production facilities.
