Ukraine’s crude and finished steel outputs decline in May

According to the preliminary data disclosed by Ukrmetallurgprom, in May this year Ukrainian steel mills produced 1.624 million mt of crude steel and 1.66 milion mt of pig iron, down 11.1 percent and down 0.9 percent, respectively, both year on year. The total output of finished steel in May went down by 17.9 percent year on year to 1.429 million mt, SteelOrbis has learned.

In the first five months of the current year, Ukraine’s crude steel and pig iron outputs amounted to 8.281 million mt and 8.146 million mt, respectively, down 10.7 percent and 6.6 percent year on year. Finished steel production fell by 6.6 percent year on year to 7.4 million mt.
