Ukraine’s coal output increases by 3.1 percent in January-August

According to the preliminary data issued by Ukraine's Ministry of Coal Industry, in the first eight months of this year the country's coal mining companies increased their coal output by 3.1 percent year on year to about 49.225 million mt.

Specifically, Ukraine's production of coking coal in January-August amounted to 16.393 million mt - down three percent, while output of power-generating coal totaled 32.832 million mt - up 6.5 percent, both compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the state-owned mines controlled by the Ministry of Coal Industry reduced their coal production by 2.4 percent in January-August this year to 24.963 million mt, including 5.557 million mt of coking coal - down 9.1 percent year on year, and about 19.406 million mt of power-generating coal - down 0.3 percent year on year.
