In 2015, Ukrainian coal plants' production of coal decreased by 38.8 percent compared to the previous year to 39.7 million mt, according to a Ukrainian media report citing data issued by the Ministry of Energy and Coal Mining of Ukraine.
In 2015, output of coking coal decreased by 49.8 percent to 8.15 million mt, while production of energy coal decreased by 35.3 percent to 31.6 million mt, both year on year.
In the given year, the overall coal output of Ukrainian state-owned miners decreased by 62 percent to 6.74 million mt, with output of coking coal down 57.6 percent to 1.95 million mt and energy coal production declining by 63.5 percent to 4.79 million mt, all year on year.
In 2015, mines in the Donetsk region produced 14.36 million mt of coal, down 44.9 percent, the Lugansk region produced 4.33 million mt of coal, down by 75.8 percent, the Dnepropetrovsk region produced 18.83 million mt, declining by 0.4 percent, the Volin region produced 243,200 mt of coal, decreasing by 16.5 percent, while the Lviv region produced 1.98 million mt, up 9.2 percent, all on year-on-year basis.
