Ukraine ups exports in Jan-Feb 2007
According to the data issued by the Ukrainian State Customs Service, in February 2007 Ukraine exported 674,000 metric tons of flat steel products - up 13.7 percent compared to same month of last year. In particular, during the given period, Ukraine exported 539,000 metric tons of hot-rolled and 91,000 metric tons of cold-rolled products. In addition, during January-February 2007, Ukraine exported 1.2 million metric tons of long products – up 29.8 percent year on year. In February alone, longs exports saw a 15.6 percent increase to 569,690 metric tons. In the first two months of 2007, Ukraine exported 2.2 million metric tons of semi-finished products, showing a 24 percent increase compared to the same period of last year. In February alone, the country's exports of semis increased by 3.9 percent year on year to 964,830 metric tons. The country's coke exports decreased 6.3 percent year on year to 102,800 metric tons in January-February 2007. However, Ukrainian coke exports saw a 38.5 percent increase year on year to 51,320 metric tons in February 2007. Finally, in the first two months of 2007 Ukraine saw a 15.8 percent increase in its iron ore exports year on year on year to 3.07 million metric tons. In February alone, the country exported 1.4 million metric tons of iron ore - up 19.9 percent compared to February 2006.
