According to the preliminary data the domestic consumption of finished steel products in Ukraine increased in the first four months of 2007.
In particular, the domestic consumption of CR increased by 14 percent to 157,400 metric tons, the consumption of HR increased by 36 percent to 1.032 million metric tons and the consumption of strips increased by 27 percent to 471,600 metric tons.
In addition, during the period in question, the Ukrainian domestic consumers increased their purchases of long products by 12-64 percent, depending on the product group. In particular, consumption of channel bars increased by 47 percent to 83,600 metric tons, consumption of angles increased by 12 percent to 95,000 metric tons and consumption of beams increased by 64 percent to 40,800 metric tons.
