40 mm diameter rebar of А500С class produced by ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian subsidiary of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, has won the All-Ukrainian Best Domestic Good 2011 competition in the steel industry category.
The Best Domestic Good 2011 competition is being held in Kyiv on August 16-19 within the framework of the Barvysta Ukraina (Colorful Ukraine) national exhibition.
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is the only manufacturer of 40 mm diameter rebar in Ukraine. 40 mm rebar is used in projects for the construction of bridges, dams, and nuclear and hydroelectric power plants. The high requirements for 40 mm rebar manufacture ensure its flexibility, corrosion resistance and its suitability for earthquake-resistant structures. Due to its exclusive specifications, 40 mm rebar produced by ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is being used in the construction of the foundation of the new sarcophagus above destroyed reactor 4 at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih plans to supply 12,000 mt of rebar for sarcophagus foundation of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
In 2010, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih produced 300 mt of 40 mm rebar. In 2011, the output of 40 mm rebar of А500С class as per DSTU 3760:2006 is planned to increase up to 1,200 mt.
