Ukraine issues Jan-Sept production results

According to the preliminary data, in the first nine months of 2011 Ukraine registered a 5.8 percent growth year on year in its finished steel product output to 22.806 million mt, an 8.1 percent increase in its crude steel output to 26.053 million mt and a six percent rise in its pig iron production to 21.511 million mt.

The country’s production of metallurgical coke went up by 6.8 percent year on year to 14.653 million mt during the first nine months of 2011. 
In January-September 2011, Ukraine produced 49.044 million mt of iron ore concentrate and 59.437 million mt of iron ore - up 2.4 and 2.7 percent respectively compared to the same period last year.

In September alone, Ukraine produced 2.472 million mt of finished steel products – down two percent, 2.901 million mt of crude steel – down three percent, 2.404 million mt of pig iron – down five percent, and 1.626 million mt of metallurgical coke - down two percent, all compared to August 2011.
