In January 2010, Ukraine's exports of ferroalloys registered an increase of 10.3 percent to 97,390 mt compared to December 2009. Meanwhile, compared to January 2009, the country's ferroalloy exports went up by 5.9 times.
Specifically, Ukraine's ferrosilicomanganese exports increased by 2.9 percent to 62,000 mt, its ferromanganese exports went up by two times to 14,300 mt, while its ferrosilicon exports rose by 42.6 percent to 9,840 mt, all compared to December 2009.

Meanwhile, in the first month of 2010, Ukraine imported 12,210 mt of ferroalloys - up 3.7 times compared to January 2009.
In particular, in January 2010, the country's imports of ferrosilicomanganese increased by 4.6 times to 8,400 mt, its imports of ferromanganese went up by 16.9 times to 1,860 mt, while its imports of ferrosilicon decreased by 4.8 percent to 200 mt, all compared to January 2009.
As SteelOrbis previously reported, in February 2010, at the request of local producers, Ukraine initiated an antidumping investigation on imports of ferroalloys. The products subjected to the investigation are ferromanganese with a carbon content of more than two percent (excluding ferromanganese granules of more than 5 mm and with manganese content of more than 65 percent) and ferrosilicomanganese.
