Ukraine expected to post increased scrap exports for 2015

Speaking at a conference titled “Strategic raw materials resources for development of Ukraine until 2020”, Vadim Odarenko, steel market expert at state-run company SC Derzhzovnishinform, stated that, according to preliminary results, scrap collection in Ukraine in the current year is expected to be 3.75 million mt. According to Mr. Odarenko, in the January-November period of this year, Ukraine’s steel scrap deliveries to local enterprises totaled 2.36 million mt and are expected to reach 2.53 million mt for the whole year.

In the January-November period, Ukraine’s scrap exports amounted to 1.175 million mt, while for the whole year Ukraine is expected to export 1.22 million mt of steel scrap, up 190,000 mt compared to last year.
