The UK government is considering maintaining trade remedies on certain steel imports after Brexit, while terminating measures on some products, according to media reports.

Accordingly, the UK is set to maintain measures on cold rolled flat steel, corrosion-resistant steel, grain-oriented electrical steel, heavy plates, hot rolled flat steel, organic coated steel, high fatigue performance rebar, stainless steel bar, steel ropes and cables, welded pipes and wire rod, while the measures will be terminated on imports of rebar, seamless pipes, stainless cold rolled flat steel and pipe fittings.

The BBC quoted Gareth Stace, drector general of UK Steel, as saying, "Even a highly experienced authority would struggle with the sheer volume and complexity of reviewing all the transitioned measures, implementation of the UK's new steel safeguards, as well as taking on brand new investigations into dumping and subsidies."
