One of the leading pipe manufacturers in the UAE, Ajmal Steel Tubes & Pipes Industries, has announced the launch of new equipment, expanding its product range of pipes from the earlier available 1/2-6” range up to 20” and increasing its annual production capacity from 250,000 mt to 350,000 mt. “We will take the monopoly position in the domestic market as no company in the UAE produces pipes of such dimensions,” Ajmal Steel CEO Utkarsh Dwivedi said. With the new production on stream ,the UAE is expected to decrease its pipe imports, which mainly come from India and China.

As a result of the expansion project, the company will increase its hot rolled coil (HRC) feedstock imports. Currently, the product is mostly sourced from Saudi Arabia and India. “As part of our programme, we are planning to increase our annual HRC imports by more than 50,000 mt in 2020, instead of the total of 200,000 mt of HRC imported in 2019,” the CEO added.
