Turkish wire rod exports up 38.7 percent in May over April

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year Turkey's wire rod exports increased by 58.73 percent year on year to 102,419 metric tons, up 38.72 percent month on month. The revenue from these exports amounted to $61.04 million, up 56.01 percent year on year and increasing by 40.55 percent month on month. In the given month, the average price of Turkey's wire rod exports stood at $596.01/mt, increasing by $7.78/mt month on month and down from the average of $606.43/mt recorded in the same month of 2013.

Meanwhile, in the first five months of this year Turkey's wire rod exports increased by 5.94 percent to 460,539 metric tons, while the value of these exports amounted to $273.26 million, up 3.10 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
 
In the first five months, Turkey's wire rod exports to Israel rose by 73.51 percent year on year to 97,111 metric tons, ahead of Libya, which received 51,479 metric tons of wire rod from Turkey, down 17.43 percent compared with the same period of the previous year. Libya was followed by the US, which imported 50,452 metric tons of wire rod from Turkey in the given period, up 62.06 percent year on year. In May alone, Turkey's top wire rod export destination was the US, which received a total of 32,790 metric tons.
