According to the statistics released by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in October this year Turkey's total wire rod exports amounted to 114,377 metric tons, decreasing by 6.5 percent month on month and up 146.3 percent over October 2010. Turkey's wire rod exports in September this year had seen a 33 percent increase as compared to August.
Meanwhile, the revenue generated by Turkey's wire rod exports in October totaled $84.3 million, increasing by 201.2 percent year on year and down 6.7 percent compared to the previous month.
Meanwhile, in the first 10 months of 2011, Turkey's wire rod exports increased by 10.1 percent, amounting to 1.04 million metric tons, while the revenue from these exports totaled $750.4 million, up 36.4 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
In the period in question Turkey's wire rod exports to US decreased by 41.1 percent, amounting to 104,878 mt, while Turkish mills have also focused on the Latin American and Central African markets. Turkey's wire rod exports to Brazil in January-October this year amounted to 101,090 mt, increasing 24 percent compared to the same period last year, while its wire rod exports to Kenya increased by 902 percent year on year to 92,866 mt.
