According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in January this year Turkey's total wire rod exports amounted to 68,033 metric tons, up 15.95 percent month on month and up 6.2 percent compared to January 2012. In January, the average price of Turkey's wire rod exports stood at $606/mt, falling compared to the average of $655/mt recorded in the same month of 2012.
In 2012, Turkey's wire rod exports had amounted to 893,417 metric tons, decreasing by 20.7 percent compared to 2011, while the total revenue from these exports amounted to $573.25 million, decreasing by 26.1 percent year on year.
Turkey's monthly wire export volume to Libya in the November 2012-January 2013 period was at high levels of around 15,000 mt. On the other hand, Turkey’s overall wire rod exports to the Middle East region totaled just 5,290 mt in January. Turkey's wire rod exports to Singapore constituted 20 percent of total Turkish wire rod exports in January, while there had been no record of wire rod exports from Turkey to Singapore since March 2012.
