Turkish PPGI imports down 73.3 percent in January-May

In May this year, Turkey's pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) imports amounted to 2,644 mt, down by 79.3 percent year on year, while the revenue from these imports decreased by 60 percent year on year to $3.12 million, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

In the first five months of the current year, Turkey's PPGI imports decreased by 73.3 percent to 12,245 mt, while the revenue from these imports amounted to $13.07 million, down 95.7 percent, both year on year.

In the given period, Italy ranked first among Turkey's PPGI import sources, supplying 2,746 metric tons, down 60.28 percent year on year. Italy was followed by Belgium and China, with their PPGI exports to Turkey amounting to 2,476 metric tons and 1,388 metric tons respectively.
