In the first 10 months of the current year, Turkey's pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) imports amounted to 54,176 mt, decreasing by 17.5 percent, while the revenue from these imports amounted to $58.37 million, down 22.2 percent, both year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Turkey's PPGI imports in 2013 had totaled 79,312 metric tons.
In October this year, Turkey's PPGI imports decreased by 61.6 percent year on year to 4,955 metric tons and were down 41.3 percent month on month. The value of these imports amounted to $5.26 million, down 61.1 percent year on year and decreasing by 36.7 percent month on month.
In the first 10 months of this year, China ranked first among Turkey's PPGI import sources, supplying 35,436 metric tons, down 6.58 percent year on year. China was followed by Italy and Belgium, with their PPGI exports to Turkey amounting to 7,288 metric tons and 3,272 metric tons, down 36.72 percent and up 19.16 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, in October this year, Turkey's PPGI imports from China amounted to 2,795 metric tons, down 68.83 percent compared to 8,968 metric tons of PPGI imports from China in October 2013.
