At the 7th SteelOrbis Turkish Steel Market Conference, held in Istanbul on November 16 with the sponsorship of Turkish integrated steelmaker Erdemir, Mehmet Zeren, general secretary of the Turkish Steel
Pipe Manufacturers Association (CEBID), said that
Turkey's current steel
pipe output is 4 million mt per year.
Mr. Zeren informed conference participants that the Turkish steel
pipe industry has turned to new export markets such as the US, Georgia and Azerbaijan due to contraction in demand, referring to preventive measures in export markets.
The CEBID general secretary provided updates regarding the latest situation in the antidumping duty investigations initiated by the EU and Canada against
Turkey. He stated that Canada terminated the investigation on Turkish imports, underlining that Canada has decided to impose duties on other countries included in the investigation, and that
Turkey will benefit from this. Zeren said he hopes that similar decisions will be made in the EU's AD duty investigation which is expected to be concluded at the end of this year.
Regarding the Trans-Anatolian natural gas pipeline to be built between
Turkey and Azerbaijan, Mr. Zeren said that the related tender will open next year and that CEBID is working for Turkish
pipe producers to supply for the project, which will require 2 million mt of 56" spiral welded pipes.
