Turkish motor vehicle sales increase by 88.8 percent in January

In January this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales totaled 28,025 units, rising by 88.8 percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey's passenger car sales totaled 22,016 units, up 100.5 percent year on year.

In January, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 89,962 units, down by 3.7 percent, while passenger car exports increased by 2.8 percent to 60,438 units, both year on year. In the same month, the country exported 25,435 small trucks, down 8.3 percent year on year. In the month in question, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports rose by 3.5 percent to $2.46 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $1.03 billion, up by 27.2 percent, both on year-on-year basis.

In January, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 16,275 units, increasing by 93.6 percent year on year, while passenger car imports totaled 13,690 units, up 102 percent year on year.
