In June this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales totaled 72,778 units, increasing by 65.8 percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey's passenger car sales totaled 57,067 units, up 58.4 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the January-June period of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales amounted to 261,902 units, rising by 30.4 percent on year-on-year basis.
In the first six months of the current year, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 402,179 units, down 36.6 percent, while passenger car exports decreased by 32.8 percent to 281,634 units, both year on year. In the same period, the country exported 98,739 small trucks, down 44.5 percent year on year. In the period in question, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports declined by 29.6 percent to $10.97 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $4.24 billion, falling by 26.3 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In June, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 36,303 units, increasing by 56.8 percent year on year, while passenger car imports totaled 31,014 units, up 58.5 percent, year on year. In the January-June period of this year, the country's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 146,620 units, rising by 35.5 percent, while passenger car imports totaled 124,254 units, increasing by 40.9 percent, both compared to the same period of 2019.
