In September this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales totaled 43,001 units, increasing by 79.8 percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey's passenger car sales totaled 35,308 units, up 100.7 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the first nine months of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales amounted to 289,131 units, decreasing by 39.7 percent on year-on-year basis.
In the first nine months of the current year, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 913,772 units, down six percent, while passenger car exports decreased by 7.9 percent to 594,086 units, both year on year. In the same period, the country exported 262,853 small trucks, down 5.8 percent year on year. In the period in question, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports decreased by 3.9 percent to $22.99 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $8.37 billion, falling by 8.4 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In September, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 23,233 units, increasing by 50.6 percent year on year, while passenger car imports totaled 19,563 units, up 61.1 percent, year on year. In the January-September period of this year, the country's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 157,795 units, falling by 46.9 percent, while passenger car imports totaled 129,723 units, declining by 46.3 percent, both compared to the same period of 2018.
