In June this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales totaled 52,700 units, decreasing by 38.6 percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey's passenger car sales totaled 41,225 units, down 37.7 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the January-June period of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales amounted to 366,487 units, decreasing by 11.4 percent on year-on-year basis.
In the first six months of the current year, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 688,081 units, down 3.7 percent, while passenger car exports decreased by 8.7 percent to 460,552 units, both year on year. In the same period, the country exported 195,519 small trucks, up 9.3 percent year on year. In the period in question, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports increased by 14.9 percent to $16.77 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $6.55 billion, rising by 7.4 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In June, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 31,674 units, decreasing by 40.5 percent year on year, while passenger car imports totaled 26,657 units, down 39.7 percent, year on year. In the January-June period of this year, the country's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 225,270, falling by 13.4 percent, while passenger car imports totaled 183,300 units, declining by 12.8 percent, both compared to the same period of 2017.
