Turkish motor vehicle output down 13.7 percent in January-February

In February this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 119,473 units, decreasing by 15.5 percent year on year and up 8.7 percent month on month, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the January-February period of the year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 229,327 units, down 13.7 percent year on year.

In February, passenger car output amounted to 80,077 units, falling by 14.9 percent, while commercial vehicle output totaled 39,396 units, down 16.7 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the January-February period of the current year, passenger car output totaled 179,485 units, declining by 15.6 percent, and commercial vehicle production amounted to 77,853 units, decreasing by 9.7 percent, both compared to 2017.

The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry was 69.4 percent in February, while the rate was 66.5 percent for the first two months of the year.
