Turkish HRC import volume up 15.2 percent in 2017

In December last year, Turkey's total hot rolled coil (HRC) imports increased by 1.4 percent year on year to 302,443 metric tons, down 20.7 percent compared to November, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). These imports had a value of $176.03 million, decreasing by 16.3 percent month on month and up 37.6 percent year on year.

In 2017, Turkey's HRC imports amounted to 4.18 million mt, up 15.2 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 58.2 percent to $2.13 billion, both year on year.
 
In the given period, Russia ranked first among Turkey's HRC import sources, with its HRC exports to Turkey amounting to 2,049,926 mt, up 32 percent year on year, followed by France which shipped 479,508 mt of HRC to Turkey in the given period.
