According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in September this year Turkey's hot rolled coil (HRC) imports increased by 0.7 percent year on year to 327,398 metric tons, up 23.7 percent compared to August 2019. The revenue from these imports amounted to $174.5 million, down 12.7 percent month on month and increasing by 26 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
Meanwhile, in the first nine months of this year, Turkey's HRC imports amounted to 2.78 million metric tons, down 3.2 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $1.47 billion, decreasing by 15.2 percent compared to same period of 2018.
In the given period, Russia ranked first among Turkey's HRC import sources, with its HRC exports to Turkey amounting to 1.09 million mt, down 15.4 percent year on year, followed by Ukraine which shipped 355,986 mt of HRC to Turkey in the given period.
