According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in February this year Turkey's hot rolled coil (HRC) imports increased by 8.2 percent year on year to 297,073 metric tons, up 4.3 percent compared to January 2019. The revenue from these imports amounted to $152.9 million, down four percent month on month and decreasing by 3.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
Meanwhile, in the first two months of this year, Turkey's HRC imports amounted to 581,778 metric tons, down 10.1 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $312.2 million, decreasing by 15.3 percent compared to same period of 2018.
In the given period, Russia ranked first among Turkey's HRC import sources, with its HRC exports to Turkey amounting to 317,718 mt, up 37.2 percent year on year, followed by the Netherlands which shipped 70,286 mt of HRC to Turkey in the given period.
