Turkish finished steel output up 10.5 percent in January-July

According to a statement released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (DCUD), in the January-July period of this year Turkey's finished steel production reached 19.9 million mt, up by 10.5 percent year on year.

Of the total finished steel production in the first seven months, 75 percent consisted of long steel products, while 25 percent was accounted for by flat steel products. Turkey's flat steel production amounted to 5 million mt in the period in question, with a decrease of 3.5 percent, while domestic production of long steel products rose by 16.1 percent to 14.9 milion mt, both compared to January-July 2011.

Meanwhile, Turkey's long steel product consumption in the first seven months of the year reached 8.6 million mt, rising 12.7 percent compared to the same period last year, while the country's flat steel consumption was 7.7 million mt, increasing six percent compared to January-July 2011.
