In April this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume decreased by 57.9 percent month on month to 65,852 mt, down by 58.1 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $30.6 million, down 56 percent month on month and down 60 percent year on year.
In the January-April period of this year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 528,611 mt, rising by 7.17 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 5.5 percent to $234.8 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey imported 279,537 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, down 8.5 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 196,437 mt in the given period.
