Turkey’s billet imports up 37.7 percent in Q1

In March this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 22 percent month on month to 156,551 mt, up by 29 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $69.41 million, up 19.4 percent month on month and up 11.2 percent year on year.

In the first three months of this year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 462,729 mt, rising by 37.7 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 18.7 percent to $204.24 million, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey imported 257,485 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, up 5.07 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 160,058 mt in the given period.
