In January Turkey's wire rod exports dropped in volume and in revenue on a month-on-month basis for the third month in a row, with the volume declining by 14.57 percent compared to December 2009.
According to the statistics released by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in January this year Turkey's total wire rod exports amounted to 68,093 metric tons, increasing by 32.37 percent year on year, but down 14.57 percent over December 2009. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $33.89 million, rising by 29.88 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and down 12.62 percent month on month.
In January, the average export price of Turkish wire rod amounted to $498/mt, up $11/mt or 2.28 percent from December levels and indicating an increase of $18/mt or 3.69 percent compared to January 2009.
