Turkey’s steel pipe export prices up 15.89 percent in August over July

According to the statistics released by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in August Turkey's total steel pipe exports amounted to 119,000 metric tons, decreasing by 14.38 percent year on year and by 8.35 percent month on month. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $128.51 million, down 27.53 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, but up 6.29 percent over July this year.

In August, the average export price of Turkish steel pipe amounted to $1,079/mt, up $148/mt or 15.89 percent from July levels, but indicating a decrease of $196/mt or 15.37 percent from $1,275/mt in August 2008.

On the other hand, in the January-August period of the current year, Turkey's steel pipe exports slid 9.12 percent year on year to 1.07 million mt, totalling a value of $1.02 billion, down 22 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
