Turkey's steel imports decreased by 9.1 percent to 10.05 million mt, while the value of these imports fell 7.2 percent to $8.88 billion, both on year-on-year basis, according to the data released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). In the given period,
Turkey's
billet imports totaled 2.26 million mt, down 1.4 percent, its
slab imports decreased by 33.4 percent to 1.07 million mt, while its flat steel imports totaled 4.96 million mt, down 8.6 percent, long steel imports amounted to 1.11 million mt, up three percent, and steel
pipe imports decreased by 5.9 percent to 323,000 mt, all on year-on-year basis.
On the other hand, in September alone,
Turkey's steel imports decreased by 16.3 percent year on year to 1.19 million mt, while the value of these imports totaled $1.02 billion, down 12.9 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the given month,
Turkey's
billet imports decreased by 13 percent to 262,000 mt, while its
slab imports declined by 29.5 percent to 140,000 mt, both year on year. Also in September this year,
Turkey's flat steel imports contracted by 17.3 percent to 594,000 mt, its long steel imports decreased by 7.1 percent to 118,000 mt, and its steel
pipe imports totaled 40,000 mt, down 6.2 percent, all on year-on-year basis.
