In November last year, Turkey’s steel imports increased by 33 percent to 1.66 million mt, year on year, as announced by the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).
In the month of November, Turkey’s semi-finished steel imports increased by 31 percent to 543,000 mt, while Turkey’s flat steel imports rose by 37.3 percent to 860,000 mt, both compared to the same month of 2016. In November, total long steel product imports were up by 9.4 percent to 138,000 mt, year on year.
In November, Turkey's steel export volume was equivalent to 89 percent of its steel import volume, compared to 111 percent in the same month of 2016.
In the first 11 months of last year, the country’s steel imports decreased by 8.1 percent to 15 million mt, year on year.
In the January-November period of last year, Turkey’s semi-finished imports fell by 24.5 percent to 4.4 million mt, while Turkey’s flat steel imports increased by 4.2 percent to 8.4 million mt, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's steel export volume was equivalent to 107 percent of its steel import volume, compared to 97 percent in the same period of 2016.
