Turkey’s steel import volume down 6.7 percent in January-November

According to the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), in November last year Turkey’s steel imports decreased by 31.3 percent to 1.17 million mt, year on year. 
 
In the given month, Turkey’s semi-finished steel imports decreased by 52.4 percent to 330,900 mt, while Turkey’s flat steel imports fell by 16.4 percent to 653,000 mt, both compared to the same month of the previous year. In November, the long steel product imports of the country were down by 22.3 percent to 111,000 mt, year on year.  
 
In November, Turkey's steel export volume was equivalent to 112 percent of its steel import volume, compared to 85 percent in the same month of 2015.
 
In the January-November period of last year, Turkey's steel imports declined by 6.7 percent year on year to 16.35 million mt.
 
In the first eleven months of last year, Turkey’s semi-finished imports fell by 21.2 percent to 5.82 million mt, while Turkey’s flat steel imports continued to increase with a 3.1 percent rise to 8.03 million mt, both compared to the same period of the previous year.
 
In the January-November period of last year, Turkey's steel export volume was equivalent to 97 percent of its steel import volume, increasing by two percentage points compared the same period of 2015.
