According to the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), in September this year Turkey’s steel imports decreased by 27 percent to 1.26 million mt, with a value of $845.8 million, down 16.9 percent, both year on year.
In the given month, Turkey’s semi-finished steel imports decreased by 46.6 percent to 449,000 mt, while Turkey’s flat steel imports fell by 4.9 percent to 647,000 mt, both compared to the same month last year.
In the January-September period of this year, Turkey's steel imports declined by 1.8 percent year on year to 13.9 million mt due to the sharp decrease in September.
In the January-September period of this year, Turkey's steel export volume was equivalent to 94 percent of its steel import volume, compared to 97 percent in the same period last year.
